Welcome to CVO 40 years!

We love to sing and to share our music with you. We hope that you enjoy our site and that you enjoy learning more about us.

Current Information

It’s our 40th Year of Singing!

Coro Vivo Ottawa rehearses at Orleans United Church in Orleans on Tuesday night from 7pm – 9:30pm.

Last year was a great year of rebuilding for Coro Vivo. Our Chritmas concert was well attended and it saw us performing surrounded by a beautiful wintery set. We were still wearing masks and adhering to COVID restrictions within the choir. Spring saw a change of tune, literally, with a wonderful Broadway , almost sell-out, concert performed at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Orleans.

We are resuming rehearsals starting in September and are excited for the coming season.

Our Christmas concert will be A Jazzy Christmas with a wonderful mix of jazz and other Christmas favourites.

Our Spring concert will feature Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen with organ as well as other wonderful selections.

We look forward to seeing you whether that is within our ranks (we are accepting new members) or in our wonderful and engaged audience.

Cheers!

More About Us

Coro Vivo Ottawa (CVO) is a community choir with a membership of approximately 40 members drawn from across the National Capital Region. Formerly Blackburn Chorus, CVO was founded 40 years ago and has evolved from a small group of amateur singers to becoming a well-respected concert choir in the area. CVO sings a wide range of music, from classical works to Broadway tunes. We  perform repertoire in various languages including English, French, Spanish and German. We encourage the professional development of local musicians by including them in our concerts as guest artists.

Our concerts endeavour to have our members and our audience discover a wide range of musical experiences.

CVO also values community outreach. Each year we perform for seniors’ homes, and other community groups. We have a long standing relationship with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) for which we have raised over $73,000.00. Our grand piano finds its home at Orleans United Church and is enjoyed by many community groups as well as for groups such as the Kiwanis Music Festival.
